I honestly cannot believe I am sitting here writing this post. In March of 2016, I had a crazy idea in the middle of the night and immediately called my co-founder Kevin about the idea, at the time I was only joking. After spending a long night of market research and seeing that nothing like this existed, I knew I had something. If I remember correctly, when I woke up the next morning, I immediately texted Kevin “I’m doing it.” Without hesitation, Kevin replied, “I’m in.” After a lot of hard work, we received our first 33 customers and spent the whole weekend HAND COILING 132 samples (seen in the picture above) for our first ever Maker Box. Now we have a fixture that spits out 8 samples in 20 seconds and have partnered with Printed Solid, who has been supporting us since day 1, to help deliver hundreds of boxes to amazing customer around the world!

When starting this company I never imagined it would get as big as it is. Since the beginning, I told Kevin that I would be 100% satisfied if we had a steady customer base of only 100 customers. After all, we are just college students who were looking for a small side venture while finishing up our education. Well, obviously a lot has changed since then, and I can’t even describe how thankful I am for all of our amazing members and the community we have developed around our love for 3D printing.

Okay. Now that all that mumbo-jumbo is out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff! As you may already know, to help celebrate our 1 year anniversary we are hosting a 3D Printer Giveaway with a ton of awesome prizes! In addition, Kevin and I thought it would be a great idea to allow our Maker Box members to choose what filament is going to be in the April box. To do this, we have created a survey that includes most of our past filaments. Here members can vote for which past filaments they want to receive one more time for a special anniversary box. We will use the survey results to surprise Maker Box members with the overall top picks from the list. So head on over and take the survey!

Thank you all for the amazing support and we hope to be doing this again next year!
